A bit morbid

An accident early this morning at a natural gas drilling location in south Caddo Parish claimed a man’s life.

Chesapeake Energy spokeswoman Katie McCullen said the man, who is not being identified until family members are notified, was an employee of Trinidad Drilling Ltd. The accident occurred at around 5:15 a.m. at the Morrell Et Al 8H-1 drilling location on Graham Road.

Caddo Parish Fire District No. 6 and Caddo Parish sheriff’s deputies responded. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caddo Parish coroner’s office.

“The worker was killed in an accident that took place while drilling operations were ongoing,” McCullen said in an e-mail.

No details about the accident were released.

“At this time, our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased. This is all the information that is available at this time. Information updates will be made when available,” McCullen said.

The man becomes the fourth to die in rig- or well-related accidents since the Haynesville Shale started in early 2008.
